Course Description

CEU Course Description

Patients who become infected with hepatitis and seek antiviral treatment, especially for hepatitis C, face long and in some cases difficult treatment regimens that, in the end, might not clear the virus from their bodies.  This CEU course provides nurses with overall treatment recommendations for Hepatitis A, B, and C, for those receiving medication-assisted treatment for opioid dependence, those who relapse to substance use, and patients with co-infections of HCV/HIV or co-occurring behavioral health disorders.

 CEU Course Objectives

  1. Discuss the primary reason people stop hepatitis C treatment and what nurses can do to prevent this.
  2. Investigate the medication side effects that require medical attention.
  3. Compare and contrast the preferred treatment for each form of hepatitis.
  4. Describe the medical care for patients who choose to defer treatment.
