CEU Course Description

Sexual abuse, including sexual assault or rape, of children and adolescents is a major global public health problem, a violation of human rights, and has many health consequences in the short and long term. Thus, health care professionals should understand how to safely and effectively administer health care to patients who have been sexually abused. This course will review evidence-based recommendations for quality clinical care for children and adolescents who have, or may have, been subjected to sexual abuse, in order to mitigate the negative health consequences of sexual abuse and to improve upon patient well-being.

 

CEU Course Objectives

  1. Examine recommendations for the clinical care of children and adolescents who have, or may have, been subjected to sexual abuse.
  2. Review clinical evidence related to sexual abuse.
  3. Identify methods to treat and prevent the short and long term consequences of sexual abuse.
