Unfortunately, in today's global culture there are stigmas associated with mental illness that often prevent the treatment and care of those in need. In an attempt to reduce the stigmas associated with mental illness, various countries have initiated anti-stigma programs. This CEU will review the use of  anti-stigma programs as well as present an article which analyzes the rights of those suffering from mental illness in order to build awareness and promote progressive initiatives to ensure individuals with mental illness receive the care they require.

CEU Course Objectives

  1. Examine the cross-cultural differences in stigmas associated with mental illness, while obtaining insight into stigma reduction.
  2. Explore approaches to stigma reduction as well as their impact in various countries.
  3. Review the potential impact of the World Psychiatric Association's (WPA) 'Bill of Rights.'
