Course Description

CEU Course Description

In pediatric populations, pain, both acute and chronic, is often under-recognized and under-treated. As a result, many pediatric patients suffer without receiving therapy. Evidence demonstrates that controlling pain in pediatric patients can be beneficial to improving their physiologic, behavioral and hormonal outcomes. This CEU will provide nurses with insight on how to effectively evaluate and manage pediatric pain in order to increase treatment outcomes and quality of care.

 CEU Course Objectives

  1. Identify different pediatric pain assessment tools, while differentiating between categories of pain.
  2. Explore non-pharmacological interventions for pediatric pain management.
  3. Examine pharmacological interventions for pediatric pain management.
