Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an inflammatory disease that causes pain, swelling, stiffness, and loss of function in the joints.  This CEU course describes how rheumatoid arthritis develops, how it is diagnosed, and how it is treated, including what can be done to manage the disease.  This course also highlights current RA research efforts.

 CEU Course Objectives

  1. Discuss treatment strategies that allow most people with RA to lead active and productive lives.
  2. Enumerate typical signs and symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis.
  3. Explain the treatment goals for rheumatoid arthritis.
  4. Examine common laboratory tests for RA.
  5. Elucidate the nurse's role in educating the RA patient on ways to reduce stress on joints.
