CEU Course Description

The goal of this CEU course is to provide guidance on the prevention and treatment of common types of wounds, including pressure ulcers, diabetic foot ulcers, venous insufficiency ulcers, and arterial insufficiency ulcers.  The focus of these guidelines is to optimize treatment outcomes in the correctional environment.

 CEU Course Objectives 

  1. Enumerate basic interventions for arterial insufficiency.
  2. Investigate for which patients compression therapy should be used with caution.
  3. Examine factors that can alter the normal histo-chemical complex cascade - potentially converting a healing wound to a non-healing one.
  4. Provide the most crucial step in determining appropriate wound management.
  5. Describe the impact frequent wound cleansing and dressing changes have on healing.
