CEU Course Description 

Individuals with co-occurring mental and substance use disorders (COD) are common in behavioral health and primary health settings.  The goal of this CEU course is to provide guidelines that can assist in the design of policies and protocols to support best practice pharmacologic interventions for individuals with CODs in all settings.  Supporting the attainment of valued recovery outcomes and the more efficient and effective use of resources for individuals with complex challenges is focused on by this course.

 CEU Course Objectives

  1. Discuss what psychosocial interventions serve to do in the treatment of PTSD and opioid use disorders.
  2. Enumerate first-line treatments for PTSD.
  3. Explain why caution should be exercised when considering TCAs.
  4. Investigate when benzodiazepines may be used to treat PTSD.
  5. Identify the medication that cannot be used for the treatment of alcohol dependence in individuals who require agonist therapy for opioid dependence.
