The aim of this CEU course is to introduce and/or reinforce communication skills essential for nurses when caring for older patients and their families by offering practical techniques and approaches to help with diagnosis, promote treatment adherence, make more efficient use of healthcare professionals' time, and increase patient and provider satisfaction.

 CEU Course Objectives

  1. Enumerate the benefits of effective communication.
  2. Investigate how to make it easier to communicate with a person who has lost some hearing.
  3. Elucidate what the patient should be told to expect from a treatment.
  4. Identify ways to encourage older patients to exercise.
  5. Describe the strategies that nurses should try to encourage healthy diets.
