CEU Course Description

Alzheimer’s disease affects over six million people in the United States, with that number estimated to grow to over 13 million by 2060. Currently, clinical research is abundant in this field, with new diagnostic, treatment, and prevention modalities being studied.  Nurses must be aware of what Alzheimer’s disease is, its risk factors, signs and symptoms, diagnostic tools, treatments, and nursing implications. After this course, nurses should be up to date on new research findings and evidence-based care practices to promote improved outcomes. 

CEU Course Objectives

1. Define Alzheimer’s disease
2. Identify modifiable and non-modifiable risk factors of Alzheimer’s disease
3. Recognize signs and symptoms of cognitive decline
4. Understand evidence-based screening, diagnostic, and treatment methods
5. Review the nurse’s role in promoting optimal outcomes for those with Alzheimer’s disease
