The hospital environment contains hazards such as bacteria, viruses, and chemicals that may be inhaled by personnel and cause injury or illness. As a result, health care professionals should possess an understanding of how to protect themselves from such hazards. This CEU reviews effective strategies and methods which can be used by health care professionals to protect themselves against respiratory hazards such as aerosol transmissible diseases (ATDs).


CEU Course Objectives

  1. Examine the contents of a 'respiratory protection toolkit.'
  2. Review guidelines for preventing the transmission of infectious agents in health care settings.
  3. Identify respiratory hazards, while obtaining an understanding of effective strategies and methods which may be used to limit exposure to such hazards.
