Course Description

Course Description

Many people who are infected with hepatitis are unaware that they have the disease and therefore do not seek treatment.  This short CEU course addresses hepatitis prevention, screening, treatment, and coordination of patient care.  The need for close collaboration between medical and behavioral health treatment providers when working with patients who have both hepatitis and an SUD is also discussed.

Course Objectives

  1. Explain what nurses should briefly describe about each of the hepatitis viruses when educating patients.
  2. Elucidate the factors that will benefit patients who have any form of viral hepatitis.
  3. Describe the conversations nurses should have with patients when their hepatitis C test results are negative.
