Synthetic cannabinoid use is on the rise. As a result, health care professionals are seeing an increasing number of patients admitted to health care facilities for the treatment of adverse effects associated with synthetic cannabinoids. Due to this rising trend, health care professionals should maintain a high degree of alertness for synthetic cannabinoid use and its possible physiological and psychological effects on potential patients. This CEU provides nurses with information regarding synthetic cannabinoid use, makeup and effects, in order to increase awareness and improve patient care.   

CEU Course Objectives

  1. Explore the proposed, accepted perception of synthetic cannabinoids and their availability.
  2. Examine the physiological and psychological effects of synthetic cannabinoid use, while obtaining an understanding of the potential chemical makeup of the new generation of cannabinoid designer drugs being sold to the public.
